D-I-Y Lipstick Palette

-

Various lipstick brands and shades are now available in the market, but there are times when you just can’t find the perfect one for you. Perhaps it’s because of a tight budget or you just aren’t quite satisfied with the colors and shades you could afford. The solution would be to make your own lipstick – yes, a do-it-yourself or DIY lipstick!

Materials Needed:

Lipsticks you currently have, candle, metal spoon, container or disposable palette, small metal spatula or hard card

Procedure:

1. Extract lipstick from its tube using a metal spatula or any hard card that’s not paper (your credit card, for example). Get just a little, especially if you can’t figure out how much lipstick is going to fill your mixing container. (You can mix two or more shades depending on the colors available.)

2. Put the extracted lipsticks on a metal spoon. Hold the spoon a centimeter or two above the flame for the lipstick to melt or liquefy.

3. Using the metal spatula, mix the colors together. If you want the color to be darker, add some more of a darker shade.

4. Pour the liquefied lipstick mix in a small container or any palette, preferably an unused watercolor compartment.

5. Let it set.

Voila! By doing it yourself, you can have multiple shades of lipstick, without breaking your wallet. The few lipstick shades you have can be mixed in various combinations, so can have different shades for different moods and different days!
