Pinoy elected global head of Boston firm
MANILA — A Filipino has been appointed as the first Asian global managing director of the Bostonbased consultancy Bain and Company.
Emmanuel "Manny" Maceda, 54, will succeed Bob Bechek who has led the firm for six years.
He is a member of the firm's Board of Directors and has run Bain's "Full Potential Transformation" practice, "an effort to alter the financial, operational and strategic trajectory of the business with a stated goal of producing game-changing results."
In his interview with the Financial Times, Maceda said he aims to strengthen the firm's focus on digital business models.
"What I have seen for some years now is that the definition of what transformation means is for companies to become leaders in digital, from their customer interface to their business models," he was quoted saying.
Maceda, who joined Bain in 1988, was the chairman of the Asia-Pacific region, global leader of the Performance Improvement and Reengineering practices and leader of the global recruiting team.
The new global head of Bain holds a Master of Science in Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sloan School of Management.
Maceda graduated magna cum laude in Chemical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
He is the eldest son of late senator Ernesto Maceda Sr and Marichu Vera-Perez of Sampaguita Pictures.
Bain and Company is one of the world's three largest strategy consulting firms by revenue along with McKinsey and Boston Consulting Group.
