Cebu Vice Governor Agnes Magpale has assured that the Capitol, through the Provincial Women's Commission (PWC), will provide assistance to the nurse from Balamban, Cebu who was allegedly harassed by a patient and her relative.

Magpale added that the nurse who was in the video came and had an audience with her. The vice governor heard that the Philippine Nurses Association will also help her with the needed legal support.

“Collaborative man gyud ta, amo gyud na agdon ang lead counsel,” Magpale said.

She, however, cannot determine what specific help the Capitol will extend to the nurse, but she has assured that the province will definitely support the government employee.

Magpale also said that there were many patients in the hospital when the incident happened.

She said the nurse told her that the patients were attended to, but not as swift as the complainant expected it to be because of the number of patients at that time.

Meanwhile, the scheduled meeting between Balamban District Hospital Head Dr. Olivia Dandan and Provincial Health Office (PHO) Head Dr. Rene Catan about the incident did not materialize today.

Catan was in San Remigio for the launching of the Kusina Project by the Governor's office, Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), NGO, and Gawad Kalinga.

In a phone interview, Catan said that the complaint of the nurse is being formalized by a lawyer.

“I-centralize pa ang tanan. Naa na sa legal. Awaiting the council to formalize the complaint,” he added, when asked about plans on filing a complaint.

The PHO, PWC and the Office of the Vice Governor are waiting for the centralization before they can make their intervention.

Catan also said the nurse is also receiving so hate comments from the social media and from the public, but he stressed that the nurses from provinces are doing their jobs well.

“Tinud-anay lang atong nurses are the real heroes,” Catan said.
