The Mindanaoans’ too much monopoly of powers

-

With the President being from Davao, the Senate President being from Cagayan de Oro, and the House Speaker being from Davao del Norte, with more than one-half of the Cabinet members, the Executive Secretary, the Finance Secretary and the Labor Secretary being all from Mindanao, and thousands of sensitive and critical positions being held by Mindanaoans, the new marginalization is now on Luzon and the Visayas.

Political history is being turned upside down. The Land of Promise has found its fulfillment at last, total, absolute and unstifled fulfillment. But then again, is this consolidation of powers good for the country, in general, and will this be beneficial to the people, in particular? The answer is no.

What is happening today is the complete reverse of the time of President Marcos, where almost all positions were filled up by Ilocanos, from the Cabinet to the Judiciary, even the diplomatic posts and the military. This is also the perfect reversal of the PNoy era and the GMA times, with Enrile as Senate President, and Belmonte as Speaker, Mindanao then was just relegated to a food basket, producing grains, fish and fruits for Luzon and the Visayas, while its people were suffering from hunger and social injustice. Maybe this the revenge of the ostracized, the rise of the oppressed and the assertion by the long marginalized. But then again, is this good for the Philippines and for the Filipinos?

I don't think so.

This current PDP mania of raiding the LP, the NP, the NPC and other national and local aggrupation is an extension of the Mindanao blitzkrieg of concentrating powers in the hands of politicians from the southern border. And the Senate President and Speaker of the House are not unlike a modern twin pied pipers of Hamelin attracting all the political opportunists who, at the slightest hints, would recklessly jump like political mice, rats and cockroaches into the embracing waves of the PDP sea.

This party, which used to have only one incumbent congressman or two, when President Duterte run in 2016, is now emerging as the new KBL, the haven of the trapos and the oasis for political butterflies. Is this good for the country?

Definitely, no.

There are only four important qualifications today in order to be appointed to a juicy office in government: first of all, you must be from Mindanao, especially from Davao. Secondly, you must be from San Beda, especially from the Law College. Thirdly, you must be a frat brod or sis, especially from Lex Talion is or Alpha Phi Omega. Fourth ly, you must be a blogger for them, like Mocha Uson or a mouthpiece like Harry Roque. If you do not belong to these categories, no matter if you graduate Summa Cum Laude or you topped the bar, these are not your times.

This is the time of Mindanao. Luzon and Visayas should have their own chance. This is the time of San Beda. We've had too many from UP and Ateneo in the past.

This new vortex of power is claiming their era. They have waited for too long and the country is now in their hands. Is this good for the nation?

I beg to say no, explicitly and unequivocally. And I challenge anyone to a debate on this proposition.
