Town lauds 2 firms for community dev’t
The Municipality of San Fernando has recognized the contributions of Taiheiyo Cement Philippines, Inc. (TCPI) and Solid Earth Development Corp. (SEDC) in local development and amelioration of communities.
The local government awarded both firms plaques of recognition for their solidarity with the administration towards sustainable development and care for the environment.
Mayor Lakambini G. Reluya personally handed the award to company officials at the municipal gymnasium recently before thousands of townsfolk.
TCPI corporate and general affairs section head Vanessa N. Bongcawil and HR manager Zenith L. Rubi received the award for the cement company.
SEDC human resources and administration division manager Mitzie Almira I. Carin also accepted the award for the mining and port operating company with community relations frontliners Gines T. Boltron and Jessiel S. Bonghanoy.
Both TCPI and SEDC have been operating in San Fernando for more than two decades now with prime regard on the impact of their operations to the environment and the community.
These are outlined in their respective environment protection and enhancement programs and separate Social Development Management Program and Community Development Program.
Their initiatives have also been recognized by the Province of Cebu and the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industries, citations that have further strengthened their resolve to continue and maintain their programs.
TCPI manufactures the popular Grand cement brands at its plant in Barangay South Poblacion using earth materials SEDC mines out in the hinterlands of the municipality. SEDC also operates the port TCPI uses to ship out its products.
