Storytelling, art activity for city's 50 children
Nearly 50 children from barangays Tejero, Tinago and San Roque were treated to an afternoon of stories, arts and play last December 20 as
Robinsons Galleria Cebu and Basadours team up for “Colors of Christmas”, an event organized to spread the love of reading through a storytelling session and arts activity.
“We always end the ye ar with a Christmasthemed literacy event and we are glad to partner with Robinsons Galleria Cebu for the first time this year. We invited children fr om the neighboring barangays of the mall as we also want to give them the chance to enjoy this season with special treats,” said Basadours executive director Tara Rama.
T he storytelling session was held on the second floor (hotel side) where 20 trees (for the mall's Festival of Trees) are currently displayed. The session had Binibining Cebu alumnae Samantha Lo (Binibining Cebu Tourism and represented Asturias), Mary Catherine Codilla (L apu-Lapu) and Nica Soza Nabua (Medellin) as storytellers.
T hey read stories from the first Story Hours' book compilation which contained stories written by public and private elementary school children.
T he children went down to the ground (near the Gingerbread House) for the arts activity which included origami and dotted Santa Claus coloring.
Parents and children we re treated to snacks and one-hour play time at Playlab, a digital playground located at The Greens, Level 1 of Robinsons Galleria Cebu.
B asadours started out as a group of volunteer st orytellers in 2012. It be came a registered, nonprofit organization in July 2017 after five years of active community work and outreach in different areas in Cebu and its neighboring towns.
