‘Hunter’ admits shooting three

- GAN — Ermida Q. Moradas/

Three persons were killed in a shooting incident in Barangay Biasong, Balamban, Cebu Saturday afternoon.

Case investigator Police Officer 3 Emanuel Blones identified the victims as Joel Bingcola, 37, a resident of Barangay Liki; Mario Caminos, 60; and Emilio Pardillo, 44, both residents of Barangay Hingatmonan, Balamban Cebu.

Blones said that they received the alarm in the evening already and, upon arriving at the area, they found the victims' bodies lying just 50 meters away from the residence of the primary suspect Roel Cordiñera, 34.

Blones said that the three victims were hit in the fatal parts of their bodies, including the head and the chest.

Based on their initial investigation, there is a big possibility that the three victims had the intentions to attack the suspect knowing that they need to travel about three kilometers to reach Barangay Biasong.

"Og ang distance ang atong tan-awon layo ra gyod kaayo. Idugang pa nimo ang terrain sa area nga lisod kaayo kay lapok unya batuon medyo bukid pud. Naay posibilidad nga sila'y nisulong," Blones told The FREEMAN.

Aside from Roel, the operatives also arrested three of the suspect's relatives who were considered as persons of interest after they were seen present at the crime scene during the incident.

The three persons of interest were identified as Reynaldo Cordiñera Jr, 29, (suspect's brother); Reynaldo Cordiñera Sr., 60 (suspect's father); and Julifer Tundag, 30, (cousin).

Blones said that they will be subjected to a paraffin test to confirm if they had a participation in the crime.

Roel, who is a known hunter in the area, voluntarily surrendered his improvised caliber .22 air gun to the operatives and admitted that he was the only person responsible for the shooting incident.

"Bisa'g iyang giangkon nga siya ra ang nipusil, ato gihapon i-undergo og paraffin test ang tulo ka persons of interest kay katingalahan man nga wala nakabalos ang tulo knowing nga aduna sad sila'y armas," said Blones.

The operatives were also able to recover at least four high powered caliber firearms from the bodies of the victims that included a KG 9 semi-automatic pistol, one improvised shotgun, a caliber 45, a carbine, and a hand grenade, and a pin of a hand grenade.

Blones said that they are still conducting follow-up investigation to confirm whether the recovered firearms were really owned by the victims.

The operatives are still also checking the true motive of the shooting incident.

Blones said that the victims and the suspect do not have derogatory records in their station.
