The Municipality of Daanbantayan under the leadership of Mayor Vicente Loot is now geared towards preparing to cope with the challenges that may be brought on by the entry of big investors in the town.

As this year starts, Jollibee Foods Corporation, the country’s top fast food chain, has opened its branch in the town.

Loot said he felt proud since Jollibee finally chose Daanbantayan to be the home of one of its big branches in Cebu after a thorough evaluation of places where to put up another branch in the north next to Bogo City.

During the opening, Rico Evasco, Operations Director of Jollibee Foods Corp., said they chose Daanbantayan based on how the place is managed by the local government.

While Daanbantayan is ripe for investment, Loot said the next challenge is on how to cope with challenges, now that an outside investor has already entered the town.

“Limpyo na ba ang dalan sa trapik, naa bay moimplement og tarung wherein maka-ingon ang investor this is a nice place to invest with,” Loot said.

Loot said Jollibee is already an institution and the barometer of other investors to establish their businesses without needing to spend for feasibility studies anymore.

Other prominent businesses now in place in Daanbantayan are Prince Hypermart, 7-Eleven, Three-Sixty Pharmacy, Goldilocks and other retails stores.

Loot said Prince Hypermart is now searching for a wider area to expand their store, while Robinsons and other commercials banks and pharmacies are also now looking for areas to put up their businesses.

“Naprobelama na ko, daghan investors already asked for land use plan, nimahal na ang yuta,” he said.

Loot is hoping they can cope up with the challenges as Daanbantayan is business-friendly.

He added that any investments that are coming in would certainly change the lives of Daanbantayanons.
