Tanduay out, San Miguel in as Alab's ABL backer

-

Alab Pilipinas bid goodbye to Tanduay as its sponsor and welcomed San Miguel as its new one with a 94-91 overtime victory over Chong Son Kung Fu Basketball Club in the ASEAN Basketball League at the Sta. Rosa MultiPurpose Complex Wednesday.

Reigning MVP Bobby Ray Parks came out of the rut and unleashed his season-high 31 points to help compliment the power duo of Justin Brownlee and Renaldo Balkman, who combined for 30 points and 27 rebounds, as Alab nailed their seventh win against four defeats.

Chong Son absorbed its second defeat against six wins.

It was the last game for Tanduay as Alab’s main backer and was immediately reportedly replaced by San Miguel Thursday.

Alab trailed by a point, 90-91, with less than a minute to go following a split free throw by Chong Son’s Justin Howard, but Brownlee nailed both his charities and made key defensive stops the rest of the way to secure the win.

The home team also trailed almost all throughout regulation but Josh Urbiztondo buried three straight triples to force extra time.

Alab’s resurgence has hinged on the arrival of Brownlee and Balkman as it has won four straight games and six out of its last seven outings.

It helped that Parks had finally come out of his shell after averaging his ABL low 14.8 points coming into this one. —
