Chinese tire maker holds 3-day int’l confab in Cebu
The Philippines' promising economy and the government's closer ties with China prompted the world's fourth largest tire maker, Aeolus Tyres Co. Ltd, to hold its first international dealers conference in Cebu.
The Chinese industrial tire leader has brought in its clients from 80 countries represented by over a hundred delegates in a threeday convention currently ongoing at the Shangri-La's Mactan Resort & Spa.
In an interview with Aeolus Tyre Co,. general manager yesterday, he said that the Philippine market has been consistently performing well and that it is among the top performing markets outside of China.
As the confidence of Chinese nationals on the Philippines has considerably improved under the current administration, Aeolus Tyre decided to make the Philippines, particularly Cebu, as this year's convention host.
In the Philippines, Cebuano company Southgate Express Marketing, Inc., is the exclusive distributor of Aeolus Tyres for 17 years.
Southgate president and chief executive officer (CEO) Gerard U. Tan said the government's serious implementation of build- build-build program, booming tourism and construction sectors are few of the major factors that pushed the encouraging growth performance of tire consumption in the Philippines.
Aeolus brand is known for its industrial tires. Its recent acquisition of a major stake of Italian brand Pireli Tires further boosted its positioning as the top tire brand for premium or luxury passenger cars.
Philippines' lead in growth for tire consumption in Asia is expected to boost further if the country's agriculture sector development will be given utmost attention.
With manufacturing based in China, Aeolus Tryes Co. Ltd., was founded in 1965 and is now among the top 20 tire manufacturers in the world, producing over five million tires each year for a wide range of vehicles. It has presence in over 140 countries all over the world, including the Philippines. The brand value is worth $6 billion in the global market.
