Assailants kill 1, hurt 2

A drug surrendere­r was killed after he was shot in the head around 6:50 p.m. in the Barangay Luz sports complex last Saturday while two men were wounded after being shot in Barangay Duljo-Fatima yesterday dawn.

Police said a man wearing a white shirt and a ball cap shot Adonis Altar, 31, a resident of Barangay Luz, as he was walking.

Altar was hit in the head with the bullet entering through his jaw, he was later declared dead by attending medical personnel.

The suspect casually walked away from the crime scene and boarded a motorcycle driven by another man.

Police Officer 3 Geoffrey Gutual said that Altar earlier surrendere­d to the Mabolo Police Station during Operation Tokhang. He added that Altar was a noted drug pusher in the said barangay and may have gotten drugs from someone he has not paid yet.

"Basin sad og nakautang ni siya og drugas sauna ba unya hangtud karon wa pa mabayri," Gutual said.

Two empty .45 cal. shells were recovered from the crime scene.

In Sitio Mansanitas, Barangay Duljo-Fatima, two men having a drink were shot by an armed man yesterday dawn.

Anthony “Waway” Vasaylleje, 33, and Ritchie Canoy, 25, both residents of Sitio Mansanitas, were drinking when a man wearing a black mask, ball cap, and black jacket, approached and opened fire with a 9mm cal. pistol.

Vasaylleje was hit in the left side of his abdomen while Canoy was hit in the left thigh.

The assailant escaped on a motorcycle driven by his accomplice who was wearing a black mask and a half helmet.

Senior Police Officer 2 Wetzel Berry and personnel of the Crime Scene Investigat­ion Unit recovered two empty shells and one deformed slug of a 9mm cal. pistol.

Barangay tanods brought the victims to the hospital. Berry said that during his initial interview with Vasaylleje, the victim claimed he knew who the assailant was despite not being able to see his face.

“Kahibaw na ko kinsay nagbuhat ani,” Barry quoted Vasaylleje as saying.

The police are now investigat­ing the shooting.
