Uratex donates 50 mattresses to local hospital

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Uratex, a producer of quality foam materials, yesterday donated at least 50 mattresses to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC), a facility in Cebu City that caters to indigent patients in the Visayas and Mindanao.

On its golden celebration, Uratex launched its Project 50, a program initiated to give back to the society. It aims to help underprivileged communities by improving its facilities, especially the hospitals that have been crowded with patients.

“We feel the sharing to the less fortunate, especially to the public. Because this is for the public” said William Lee, Executive Vice President of RGC Group Companies, during in an interview with The FREEMAN.

The project is a year-long effort to offer Uratex mattresses to 50 public hospitals and nursing homes nationwide to provide comfort to those who need, such as patients. The VSMMC was chosen as one of their recipients of their corporate social responsibility program.

Marvey E. Alcantara, Uratex’s General ManagerVisayas Operations, said that “all over the Philippines we choose public hospital and elderly homes near our plant” as recipients of the Project 50.

VSMMC officers were grateful to Uratex Foam for the mattresses, which they said would surely benefit their patients.

The VSMMC chief doctors, hospital staff and Uratex employees and officers witnessed the event.

“This is 50 years and somewhat special. (For) Marawi, we (were) able to send mattresses to them. This is special, so we move over nationwide. (During calamities) such as typhoons, we are there and also giving Christmas gifts to the children. We even donate school supplies to the less fortunate children. We also have so many scholarships and we give allowance to the scholars," Lee said.

One of their achievements was being able to help 300 scholars to graduate.
