COUPLE LOSES P1.1M WORTH OF CASH, JEWELRY TO BURGLAR

- —

Over P1.1 million worth of jewelry and cash were carted away by an unidentified burglar who broke into a house owned by a businessman in a private village in Barangay Tunghaan, Minglanilla town Friday dawn.

Iñigo Briore Jr., 56, and his wife was sleeping in the master's bedroom when a burglar struck at dawn on Friday.

As soon as the couple woke up, they then discovered that their closet was already open.

Upon checking, they noticed that their assorted jewelry and branded watches worth P1,096,300 and cash amounting to P45,000 were already gone.

Based on police ocular inspection, the burglar gained entrance to the two-storey house through the comfort room's sliding window and into the master's bedroom.

The couple said the amount stolen was intended for the payment of the closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.

Police Officer 2 Arnel Resente of the Minglanilla Police Station said new CCTV cameras were installed around the house Thursday afternoon, barely a day prior to the incident.

The CCTV cameras, however, “suspiciously” failed to capture the crime.

The surveillance camera only caught sight of the suspect's back as he left the residence. The burglar's face was not also clear in the footage.

The suspect was seen wearing a jacket with hoodie and a backpack.

“Ang explanation sa manager kay mao daw dili daw mo-record basta wala'y motion kay para daw maka-save sa card,” Resente said.

According to Resente, four CCTV installers, including the manager, were in and out of the house during the fourday installation process.
