XTerra Danao gets underway today

Over 200 elite triathlete­s all over the world are all set for action as the second edition of XTerra Danao Asia-Pacific Championsh­ip gets underway today.

Defending XTerra Pro champions South African Bradley Weiss and Austria's Carina Wasle both seek to claim back-to-back titles in the grueling 1.5K swim, 28K bike and 8K trail run.

Among the A-list triathlete­s seeing action are Sam Osborne, Alex Roberts and Kieran McPherson of New Zealand, Ben Allen and Brodie Garder of Australia, Japanese Takahiro Ogasawara, Jacky Boisset and Fabien Combaluzie­r of France, Will Ross of USA and Joseph Miller, the only Filipino elite bet.

In the distaff side, among the stars to watch out for are Jacqui Allen of United Kingdom, Leela Hancox, Penny Slater and Kate Schultz of Australia, Myriam Guillot-Boisset of France, Brazil's Laura Mira Dias and Kristy Jennings of New Zealand.

Aside from the full Xterra (individual and relay), also on tap are competitio­ns in the Lite (individual and relay), a 750m swim-14km mountain bike-4km trail run, and the duathlon (individual), a 2km trail run-14km mountain bike4km trail run event.

The event is presented by the City of Danao and Sunrise Events, Inc.
