Rocamora asks Puyat to help Siquijor
Siquijor Representative
Rav Rocamora congratulated former Agriculture Undersecretary
Bernadette Romulo Puyat on her appointment as the new Department of Tourism secretary.
"I am really hopeful that with her long service in the Department of Agriculture, she will be able to seamlessly combine agriculture and fisheries growth with ecological integrity, rise in tourism and of course higher incomes for farmers and fisherfolks,” Rocamora issued a statement.
“Please help Siquijor be your showcase of farm and fisheries tourism, madam Secretary. The potential is there. It only needs proper planning and execution," Rocamora told Puyat. With Boracay's temporary closure, the island of Siquijor has become a "catch basin" for diverted tourists, he said.
"I hope that the new DOT secretary takes special interest on our mystic island-province as it has pristine beaches and charming people,” said the congressman. “Siquijor is very fragile. I want our development to be on the right track taking off from real lessons learned."
