New Food Avenues in Cebu

- – Rena Mae Gocotano, CNU Communication Intern

Food markets on weekends or even on random nights are popular now in Cebu. Workers, students and food enthusiasts are fond of these markets because of value for money – delicious foods at budget prices. Plus, while enjoying a good meal, customers get to enjoy live musical entertainment.

A new food bazar in the city is getting everyone’s appetites excited. And it’s just right for late-night busy bees because it is open from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Moreover, it’s in two locations – Tinda Locale is found at Cebu Business Park and along Archbishop Reyes Avenue.

From grilled pork, cheesy fries, crispy lechon to refreshing shakes and slurpies, Tinda Locale has what it takes to make tummies happy. Its range of value meals starts at P65 up to P350. Aside from food stalls, the place also has mini stores that sell stuff like hankies, key chains and other such accessories.

After a full meal, one may crave for refreshing desserts and they may have just that at a newly opened ice cream shop inside Ayala Center Cebu – Summers. Named after the daughter of the owner, the summerthemed mini cafe offers organic-flavored ice cream and other healthy goodies.

Summers serves various sweet treats: the Soft Serve Society, where Taro and Yam flavored ice cream are available; Halo-halo, a classic dessert consisting of fruits and beans; Overload Halo-Halo, an ultimate summer treat overloaded with toppings; Cool Delights like Piña Colada, a mixture of shaved ice, crushed pineapple and langka strips; Mais Con Yelo, cornflakes and sweet corn with milk ice cream; Crepe & Healthies like Vegan Ball, soft and chewy guilt-free vegan rolls; and Healthy Bowl, a nutrient-rich and naturally sweet smoothies. The place also serves Mama’s Homemade Crepe topped with caramelized banana and nutella sauce.

A good meal or refreshing dessert is no longer hard to find in the city. It need not be expensive, either. Tinda Locale and Summers are there.
