SM Foundation gets award for tech-voc scholarship
SM Foundation, Inc. receives another recognition from the prestigious Public Relations Society of the Philippines.
The foundation bags the Gold Anvil Award for Public Relations Programs on Sustained Basis Education when its Technical-Vocational Scholarship Grants for Gainful Employment Program was recognized for providing 1,000 technical-vocational scholarship grants, which was an 800 percent increase from previous years.
SM Foundation sees technical-vocational education as an untapped opportunity to help the youth develop their skills, gain faster employment and help their families out of poverty. “Many children in this country are out of school with limited means to pursue their studies, more so find gainful employment,” said Linda Atayde, SM Foundation Executive Director for Education. “In the meantime, there is great demand for skilled workers in many places here and around the world.”
SM Foundation offers courses in food and beverage, automobile mechanic, fitter machinist, electro-mechanical technician and refrigeration and air-conditioning through its partner schools nationwide. They enjoy full tuition subsidy, on the job internship, referral to industry partners after course completion and activities to help improve their personalities.
In Cebu, SM Foundation partners with Don Bosco systems, School of Knowledge for Industrial Labor and Leadership and Service and the Banilad Center for Professional Development.
