City College gets kitchen laboratory
The Lapu-Lapu City College (LLCC) recently got a new kitchen equipment and dining laboratory, which will be used by their students under the Hospitality and Management Department.
The kitchen equipment, which is worth P2.3 million, was donated by Mactan Isla Resort and Casino, a Koreanled company headed by its executive director Son Byung Chen.
The turnover ceremony that was witnessed by school officials happened yesterday afternoon at the LLCC.
General Manager Kim Yonghe and Pablo Aloyan, Finance Officer of the Mactan Isla Resort and Casino, also witnessed the turnover ceremony, along with City Vice Mayor Marcial Ycong.
Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza, for her part, said she is grateful for the private company's initiative.
She added that the students will now have an avenue to hone their skills in hospitality management.
"Not just an ordinary building, but something like a resort-hotel school building for the Hospitality Management students. A school building where students can feel that they are inside world-class hotels and restaurants," Radaza said.
The new laboratory contains stainless steel tables, stainless sinks with hot and cold faucets, cabinets, ventilation units and an LED flat screen television.
Gerald Alquizalas, an alumna who took up Hospitality Management in LLCC and now working as one of the instructors of the HM department, shared his story behind the success and improvements of the City College before and then.
He also thanked the city government for their support and for providing the needs of the students.
"Sauna, maghuwat gyud mi sa among turn nga makabake ug cake and we are using the traditional way of baking. Karon with the new facilities, students will no longer wait for their turn because they have these new (pieces of) equipment they can use individually," said Alquizalas, who is now a manager in one of the hotels in the city.
