Jr. Webmasters slay Dragons

The Hotel Fortuna-backed University of Cebu (UC) Junior Wesbmasters put on a dazzling third-quarter offensive show to slay the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons, 79-58, in the 18th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) basketball pre-season games yesterday at the Cebu Coliseum.

Jasper Pacaña finished with 19 points while Justin Mondares scored all of his 18 points from beyond the arc for the Junior Webmasters who were never threatened after getting off to a hbot 20-8 start.

The Dragons did manage to keep the game close in the second period to pull within striking range at the break, 26-33.

A fully recharged Junior Webmasters, however, came out firing at the onset of the second half, unloading 23 points while holding off the Dragons to a measly eight points in the third canto to blow up their lead to 22 points, 56-34.

The Dragons were in complete disarray from there onwards, and the Junior Webmasters went on to establish an insurmountable 26-point advantage, 76-50, with less than two minutes left to play.

John Regie Dajab chipped in 16 markers while Joshua Genacone added 10 underscoring the balanced attack of the Joevir 'Brad' Samonte-mentored Junior Webmasters.

Andrew Gabutero and Paul Gadion connived for 21 points in a losing effort for the Dragons.
