All set for ‘One for Brian’ charity football

-

A fund-raising football tournament billed as "Kick for Life:One for Brian” will take place on July 21-22 at the Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC) field in Barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City.

Brian is the stricken athlete-policeman Brian Guillen who is still trying to recover from an unfortunate incident in last year’s Ironman 70.3 Philippines in Lapu-Lapu City.

Guillen, the designated runner of Tribu Lapu-Lapu in relay event, collapsed due to heat stroke just a few meters away from the finish line.Although he is more known as a multi-titled ultra marathoner and a tourist police in Lapu-Lapu, Guillen is also involved in other sports particularly football.

Guillen’s love for this beautiful game was put to the test and survived it during the "Kick for Life: Football Marathon 101", Cebu's Guinness record attempt for the longest football match in the world.

More than the GWR, Guillen joined the event to help raise awareness for kids with congenital heart diseases.

At the moment, Guillen needs funds for his medication, hospitalization, and rehabilitation, thus, some fund-raisers are being done for him.

The 'One for Brian' tilt that will be governed by a seven-a-side format features a total of nine categories, the mixed under 9 and 11, boys 14 and 17, men and ladies open, men’s and ladies inter-company/BPO and men’s 38-above.

Entry fee for the under 9 to 17 is pegged at P1,500 only, while the rest is set at P2,500.—
