With new route, Ironman organizers line up series of bikeouts
The organizers of the Regent Aguila Ironman 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championships have scheduled several bikeouts for pedal-pushers to get familiar with the new route starting on July 29.
For the Sunlife Bikeout on the 29th, the starting point will be at the Mactan Newtown parking lot with a photo op at Mandani Bay.
Those who will be joining the first bikeout will have a bike jersey from Sunlife plus breakfast.
The other bikeouts spearheaded by Sunrise Events are slate on August 3 at 10am and on August 4 at 11am after the Alaska Ironkids.
It will be an open road for the bikeout but the riders will have escorts.
For this year's edition of the annual race, the new bike route will only involve the cities of LapuLapu and Mandaue.
The three-loop bike course will take participants around LapuLapu City and Mandaue City. Participants will take a narrow road heading to the main part of the race course passing through The Mactan Newtown, turning right then turn left to Quezon National Highway and head to the old Mactan-Mandaue bridge.
From the bridge, participants will turn left to Plaridel street and head towards F.E. Zuellig Avenue and make the first turn around at KM 14 and head back to the old bridge. From the bridge, participants head straight to Basak Marigondon Road, exiting to Quezon National Highway, turning left heading to Mactan Newtown area completing the first loop at KM 30.
Participants will begin the second loop heading to the old bridge and make a turn around at F.E. Zuellig Ave at KM 43 and head back to Basak Marigondon road and left to Quezon National Highway to complete the second loop at KM 59.
Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
The final loop heads to the old bridge and turn around at F.E. Zuellig Ave. at KM 73 and head back to Basak Marigondon road and left heading to Quezon National Highway heading to the Mactan Newtown at KM 89. Participants will turn right and head to the transition area to end the bike course.—
