Six nabbed in checkpoint, buy bust

Six suspected drug personalit­ies were arrested in separate police operations in Talisay City and Cebu City.

In Cebu City, a certain Rhedford Realda, 29, of Minglanill­a town, and Edgar Bariga, 37, of Negros Oriental, were allegedly caught having in their possession packs of shabu worth P70,000 during a checkpoint on N. Bacalso Avenue, Barangay Poblacion, Pardo Saturday evening.

Police Officer 3 Benjamin Maglajos of Pardo Police said the two suspects on board a motorcycle were flagged down by the operatives during a checkpoint when they were seen without helmets. One of the suspects allegedly opened the motorcycle utility box to get his driver's license and the police saw 10 small packs of suspected shabu. This led to the suspect's arrest. When frisked, authoritie­s were also able to recover another 38 small packs of suspected shabu. The suspects are temporaril­y detained in Pardo Police station pending filing of appropriat­e charges.

Meanwhile, in Talisay City, another two suspected drug personalit­ies were nabbed during a checkpoint along the national highway of Barangay Tangke, yesterday morning.

One of the suspects is identified by the police as Ramir Barangan, 28. He was with a 17-year-old minor.

The two suspects were stopped by the operatives for driving without helmet. Upon body search, the operatives recovered 11 small packs of suspected shabu from the possession of the minor which led to his arrest.

In Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City, the operatives of Drug Enforcemen­t Unit (DEU) of Pardo Police seized a total of P60,000 worth of suspected shabu during a buy bust operation yesterday noon. The suspects were identified by the police as Gilbert Fuentes and Liberato Fuentes.

Pardo Police received a report from a concerned citizen regarding an ongoing illegal drug transactio­n in the area.

The police responded and conducted a buy bust operation which led to the recovery of eight small packs and one medium pack of suspected shabu from the suspects. The arrested suspects are now detained in Pardo Police.
