No stone left unturned for ‘Victor Magtanggol’

-

GMA Network is leaving no stone unturned as it launches its latest primetime offering, “Victor Magtanggol,” that features Alden Richards in his biggest and most ambitious role yet.

GMA spent a fortune in this new production venture which brings back the telefantasya genre, with Alden playing the role of the superhero. The trailer of the new series directed by Dominic Zapata is very impressive. It’s obvious that the production team spent a fortune with its lavish sets, fabulous costumes, and state-of-the-art special effects.

“We are very excited to show the viewers the good work we put in the show,” Alden told the media during the launch of “Victor Magtanggol.”

Aside from being the lead actor, Alden is also a part of the show’s creative team, a rare privilege that Alden is very thankful to GMA for.

“It’s been a while since I did a soap opera. In terms of emotional preparedness, I’ve always been very ready when it comes to going back to primetime. I am happy to have been given the chance by GMA to play the title role of the series. Excited ako for this,” said Alden.

“When I was told about Victor Magtanggol where I had to be physically fit, nabago talaga ang lifestyle ko. I had to work out to improve my body. When I learned about this project, as early as January, I already started preparing for it by keeping myself fit. I also trained in martial arts.”

“Victor Magtanggol” is very much in contrast with Alden’s true self. “May secret life si Hammerman. Very contrast siya sa buhay ko kasi wala naman akong itinatago. Nakatutuwa si Victor kasi ang dami niyang itinatago. Palusot sa family. Alam mo na ikaw na ang pinag-uusapan pero pataymalisya ka pa rin. I guess it’s an unexplored area of emotions for me as a person na makagawa ng role na may secret identity,” said the hardworking Kapuso idol.

While he knows that he is facing formidable competition, Alden said that he just wants to offer something new to the audience. “We just want to present a different viewing fare,” said the actor.

He’s optimistic that “Victor Magtanggol” will please audiences when it starts airing on Monday, July 30.

“Ito na ang pinakamalaking project na nagawa ko sa buong career ko. GMA made sure that no stone was left unturned para masiyahan ang viewers. No limit ang budget, ginastusan ang costumes, sets, locations namin and we even shot some scenes sa Japan kaya tiyak akong hindi kami mapapahiya sa mga tao kapag pinanood nila ito.”

A meaningful art experience – this is what the CBRC Dream Theater is about. And in pursuing its dreams for the Filipinos, it now embarks on the bigger picture for local cinema’s future: the country’s first microcinema franchise.

But why invest on a microcinema? First of all, independent films have taken the world by storm. Whilst this, millennials hunger for meaning and purpose in the cinema. To cater to this yearning, the microcinema concept was born. It is through the microcinema that Carl Balita Review Center (or CBRC) found the future of Philippine Cinema.

Dr. Carl Balita would like to extend its concept of the Dream Theater to potential franchisees with a clear vision of the local film industry’s situation: millennials are the new, strong market for films.

For more than a decade now, local independent films have achieved acclaim worldwide in various film festivals in many different countries and they are also seeking attention from local audiences. It is the microcinema that strongly caters to this need to have Filipino films accessible to Filipinos. Their availability, accessibility and inexpensive ticket prices are potential exhibitors of local films.

From its opening and blessing last June 22, the public’s response was very warm. Critics named it as perhaps the “biggest” microcinema around Manila. Audience reception has been very warm as well. More and more students come to experience the films and they are also very receptive to the films primarily because of the intimate experience the Dream Theater offers.

Celebrities like Rachel Alejandro and Celeste Legaspi were also blown away by the cinema when they saw the film “Ang Larawan” as the opening exhibition of the Dream Theater.

With the CBRC Dream Theater, they assure interested parties for a franchise of microcinemas that provides a meaningful artistic experience, promoting films that combine both educational interest and quality entertainment value. Plus, the Dream Theater is a sustainable and financially-viable investment, with skilled programmers and staffers who can organize its film screenings for a potential market of millennials and Gen Z students.
