Int’l travelers: Be at Mactan airport 5 hrs before flight
International passengers are advised to come to Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) Terminal 2 five hours before their flight as the airport's runway will undergo repair next month.
Mary Ann Dimabayao, information officer of MCIA, said that they conducted an inspection of the runway yesterday for the public to know that it really needs repairs.
"Nag awhag ta sa katawhan to come 5 hours prior to their international flights para ma process na ilang mga documents early," Dimabayao said.
Earlier, GMR MEGAWIDE Cebu Airport Corporation (GMCAC) has announced that from September 1 to 21, the MCIA runway will be closed for overlay works.
GMCAC, together with allied agencies such as the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, is working in support of MCIAA to ensure that its rehabilitation efforts for the MCIA runway are completed within the published schedule.
The closure has emphasized the urgency of having a full parallel emergency runway that can operate while the main runway is shut down for maintenance or emergencies.
"When the plans are finalized, this innovative infrastructure solution will soon be part of MCIA to provide the flying public with the seamless firstworld service it deserves," GMCAC's statement read.
Passengers of affected flights are advised to get in touch with their respective airlines before their travel dates to check the adjustments on their flight schedules.
Passengers may also call MCIA's hotline at
"We ask for the understanding of the traveling public and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused," the statement further said.—
