Those who have registered their vehicles during this period may claim their plates at the authorized district office or through their respective car dealers.

They may also claim it at the LTO-7 Offsite Printing Office in SM Seaside mall from September 6 to 8 during mall hours.

"Starting October 1, the LTO-7 Enforcement Team will have a plate violation operation og manakop na gyud mi ani nila kay daghan na man ta og plaka pero gamay ra man ang nanguha. Unya og madakpan ni sila for having no plates, it follows, we will also confiscate their license," said LTO-7 regional director in a press conference yesterday.

Caindec also relayed this announcement to car dealers in a meeting yesterday to remind their customers to get their plates considering that they have already relaxed some of the guidelines in releasing car plates.

Caindec said that during the launching of the releasing of plates on July 5 this year, their office has received a total of 17,396 vehicle plates for those registered from July 2016 to December 2016.

"Unya sa 17,396 ka mga plaka, 500 ra ang ni claim. Daghan na ta og plaka pero gamay ra ang nanguha pero mas daghan og reklamo sa Facebook," Caindec lamented.

As of last Monday, the office has a total of 23,625 for vehicles registered from July 2016 to February 2017.

At the mall, representative of car dealers will assist the car owners for the release of their vehicle plates and a representative from LTO will help ensure that these plates are properly installed in the vehicle.

LTO's Plate Making Plant in Manila produced about 16,000 plates daily.

"Hopefully, the backlog of vehicle's plate will be solved by next year kay naa na man gyud tay plate making plant," Caindec said.

Caindec added that Central Visayas has about 480,000 backlog when he assumed the post in January of this year and this was recently reduced to 390,000.

"We are trying our very best to reduce the number of plate backlogs. Hopefully, by next year kay masulbad na ni," Caindec said.

The releasing of plates is done gradually and announcements are made in the succeeding months on what plates are ready for release and pick up.
