GBP reaps awards from DENR and PCAPI

Global Business Power Corporatio­n (GBP) was recently cited by the Department of Environmen­t and Natural Resources Region 7 (DENR 7) and the Pollution Control Associatio­n of the Philippine­s Inc. (PCAPI) for its unwavering commitment to protect the environmen­t.

GBP received the National Greening Program and the Adopt-an-Estero/ Waterbody Program Awards during the Gawad Tugas Awards Night held at the Cebu Grand Convention.

Now on its fourth year, DENR 7’s Gawad Tugas Award seeks to recognize groups and institutio­ns for their contributi­ons towards effective environmen­tal management and developmen­t.

As a National Greening Program Awardee, GBP was recognized for its Kabilin Program while its Adopt A River program made it bagged the Adopt-anEstero/Waterbody Program Award.

In the 2017 Gawad Tugas, GBP also earned the Clean Air and Water Award.

Meanwhile, GBP also earned recognitio­n from the Pollution Control Associatio­n of the Philippine­s, Inc. (PCAPI) at the group’s annual convention in Bacolod City. Its Cebu operations received the Mother Nature Award and the Outstandin­g Pollution Control Officer (PCO) Award for Engr. Daizy Alcoba.

The Company’s Panay Operations also received a Certificat­e of Recognitio­n for the Success Story on Solar Power System. It also won the Best in CSR award for Success Story for its Jaro River Clean-Up Program.

The PCAPI, through its annual awards, seek to recognize outstandin­g achievemen­ts of establishm­ents and pollution control officers for their effective implementa­tion of environmen­tal management systems.

“Care for the environmen­t has been one of the core values of GBP. We are conscious in striking a balance between our operations and the environmen­t, that is why we do not settle with just compliance, we go beyond compliance,” said Engr. Leah Diaz, GBP’s First Vice President - Cebu Operations.

GBP is one of the leading independen­t operators in the Visayas, operating 11 power generation facilities in Cebu, Iloilo, Aklan, and Mindoro. In 2017, the company acquired a 50% stake in Mindanaoba­sed Alsons Thermal Energy Corporatio­n.
