Anti-drug consultant found dead

The anti-drug abuse consultant of the Municipality of San Remigio was found dead inside his residence in Barangay Hagnaya yesterday morning.

Bertel Noval Aballe, 58, was found by security guard Glicerio Olivar lying on the floor half-naked. San Remigio Police Station chief William Homoc said there were no visible wounds found on Aballe. There were also no signs of struggle inside his room.

However, an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death. Homoc said an investigation will be conducted should there be signs of foul play discovered during the autopsy.

“Half-naked ni siya pagkadiscover mura gikan ihi, dili pa sad nato madetermine sa pagkakaron if naa ba sakit kay wala pa nato nakaistorya ang kabanay, pero sa atong initial makita walay signs of struggle or naay wounds,” he said.

Aballe was last seen by his neighbors Monday night. According to his neighbors, she showed no signs of health problem. In fact, he is frequently seen jogging around the town’s port area. Aballe was one of those responsible for the drugcleared status of the 27

barangays of San Remigio.

SHOT DEAD

Meanwhile, habal-habal driver Froilan Mabaga, 36, was shot dead by unidentified assailants yesterday morning in Zone Sibuyas, Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City.

The victim was on his way home to Barangay Lorega San Miguel in Cebu City together with his live-in partner, Jalica Baring, when a motorcycle-riding man shot him several times.

The victim reportedly visited the 6.5-hectare relocation site in Barangay Paknaan where he had acquired a house. According to the police, there were four people involved in the killing.

Mabaga’s relatives in the relocation site told the police that there were suspicious people allegedly checking on them. They were not able to warn the victim because they did not have power supply to charge their cellphone.

The police, however, claimed that based on their initial investigation the victim was included on the drug watch list of Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

“Ang atong biktima taga Cebu City, amo gi-coordinate sa Cebu City kung unsa gyud ilaha gikalambigitan. Naa mi inisyal report nga included siya sa drug watch list sa Cebu City,” said Senior Inspector Rodgene Fudotan, officer-in-charge of Mandaue City Police Office Station 3.
