Road to Barcelona starts in Cebu

Over 200 aspiring football players will try their luck to earn a chance to train under the highlytout­ed FC Barcelona football program in Spain in the ‘Road

to Barcelona’ this weekend at the Cebu City Sports Center. Open to boys and girls age 10 to 12 years old, the training camp will be handled by FC Barcelona coaches together with national team mainstays in Anton Del Rosario and Amanda Fernandez.

From the hundreds of participan­ts, seven young booters will be brought to Barcelona, Spain. However, only one of them will get an all-expensespa­id training.

The chosen kids will stay in Spain for nine days where they will meet are bringing the training camp to Cebu because we want to share the program to more children,” said Willy de Ocampo, Nestle Philippine­s Incorporat­ed Vice-President, in a press conference yesterday at the Milo Stadium in Kidzania Manila, Taguig City.

Founded in 1899, FC Barcelona has become one of the most popular, a profession­al associatio­n football club. It has produced football legends and superstars including Diego Maradonna, Lionel Messi, Ronaldinho, Ladislao Kubala and Johann Cruyff.

“We are very proud, excited and blessed to be hosting this year’s Road to Barcelona. This somehow completes our year-long program,” said Cebu Football Associatio­n president Rico Navarro.—
