Practical faith

The Freeman - - OPINION -

I needed a grade of at least 85 to pass my Chemistry subject. Honestly, this was not one of my favorite subjects. I prayed hard. I had faith. I expected a miracle.

I flunked the test.

Looking back it was silly of me to think that God would let me pass the subject without working and studying hard. Back then, I honestly thought faith was all I needed.

I believe God allows us to go through experiences where faith is all we are holding on to. But I also think God wants us to be moved by our faith. Faith should be accompanied by works. Yes, there will be times when we don't have anything but faith, when we can say to this mountain, get up and move. But if you are facing a mountain and you have a shovel, go ahead and pray. But start digging.

God won't perform miracles where you can perform the ordinary. God has equipped you for the battle. Let faith move you. Believe and just do it.
