GDSM hands Boss KTV first loss; Tayud rolls into Alegado Cup semis

The GDSM Marketing breathe fire from start to finish to subdue the previously unbeaten Boss KTV, 84-64, in the open division of the 8th Mayor Teresa ‘Nene’ P. Alegado Fiesta Basketball League in Consolacio­n.

Brothers Russel and Rexon Moneva had 27 points across their names as GDSM seized the solo lead with a clean 2-0 record.

Former University of the Visayas (UV) Lancers Chris Yonnel Perolino and JC Escalona tossed in 16 and 12 markers, respective­ly, for GDSM, which used a 24-14 rally in the second quarter to turn an early 22-18 lead into a 46-32 bulge at halftime.

GDSM grew even hotter as the match progressed on the way to dish out a 20-point rout.

Jerome Valle finished with 16 points and Randy Colonia scored 11 but their efforts went down the drain as Boss KTV suffered its first loss after a rousing 2-0 start.

In the other game, Joseph Cabahug and Erwin Brigoli posted 18 points each and Jose Magdadaro added 13 as David Justin eked out a 79-75 decision over Doms Autoparts for its first win two games.

Romar Ponce charted 18 points, while Warren Cañete and Emeben Ageas connived for 23 points for Doms Autoparts, which fell to 1-1.

Meanwhile, Carlo Alinsug fired 19 points, Arnel Momo had 13 and Alvin Gestota banged in 12 markers as Tayud edged Cabangahan, 89-83, to advance into the Inter-Barangay Seniors Category A semifinals with a twice-to-beat incentive for topping their bracket in the eliminatio­n round.

Tayud also emerged victorious in the SK Juniors Category A at the expense of Danlag, 65-59, behind the efforts of Michael Alinsug, Antonio Trangia, and Rovic Pomento who conspired for 36 points.

In Midgets Category A, Mark Orongan tallied 16 points, Jonas Chu and Jairus Lupo each scored 14 as Danlag bested Poblacion Occidental, 80-74, while Justine Maglasang dropped 24 points, Narxyl Pepito nailed 18 and Denmark Catadman chipped in 14 markers as Pitogo blasted Nangka, 80-64.

In Midgets Category B, John Vincent Icor notched 13 points to power Sacsac to a 68-23 shellackin­g of Panoypoy, while Von Charls Alin, Estephen Alivio and Jan Manaseh Ouano had 33 combined points as Garing outlasted ToloTolo, 59-51.
