DTI targets to open next Go Lokal! store in MCIA

The Department of Trade and Industry Central Visayas (DTI 7) is eyeing to open another Go Lokal! store at the Mactan Cebu Internatio­nal Airport (MCIA) terminal 2 after the successful opening of the first store in Ayala Center Cebu.

“We will come strongly in Cebu. An outlet at Terminal 2 is our next target” said DTI 7 regional director Asteria Caberte.

DTI, in partnershi­p with exporter Janeth Chua, formally opened last week the 30 squaremete­r Go Lokal! store at the new wing of Ayala Center Cebu, which was participat­ed in by local fashion accessory manufactur­ers and food processors.

Caberte said DTI is already eyeing a space at the new airport terminal and is bent on acquiring it soon prompted by the good performanc­e of its Ayala store since it soft opened in early September this year.

“The market is the high A and B segments. Local products sell to this type of consumers both local and foreign,” added Caberte.

Go Lokal! is a retail concept store which displays high quality and innovative Philippine-made products, developed , crafted, designed, produced by micro, Small and medium entreprene­urs and artisans.

Caberte added that DTI is currently negotiatin­g with Mactan Airport management for a space.

With the presence of Go Lokal! stores here, Cebu’s souvenir product options will no longer be limited to convention­al items like t-shirts, key chain, ref magnets, among others, but also Cebu’s pride of artistry in design featuring high end fashion accessorie­s, home decors, and export quality delicacies.

This kind of store is also seen to perk-up Cebu’s known image in the creative and design capabiliti­es as the products that featured boasts of the craftsmans­hip and ingenuity of the Cebuanos.

Go Lokal! carries products made of indigenous materials with world-class and modern twists, processed food, home decor, arts and crafts, health and wellness products, fashion apparel, accessorie­s, and health and eco-friendly items. This is also a kind of retail outlet where style meets functional­ity and modern meets indigenous.

DTI assists product developmen­t of the participat­ing local manufactur­er-vendors.
