Three members of the Radaza clan are vying for different political posts in Lapu-Lapu City.

Former congressman Arturo Radaza will run again for mayor, while his nephew, City Councilor Harry Radaza, will be his runningmate.

Arturo’s wife, incumbent Mayor Paz, is vying for Congress, replacing her daughter, lone-district Representative Aileen Radaza.

The Radazas are running under Team Deretso.

Completing their slate are city councilors Cipriano Flores, Gregorio Paquibot, Flaviano Hiyas, Jr., Ricardo Amores, Elias Berdin, former Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) President Jose Dungog, Rex Mangubat, Rodolfo Potot, as well as former city councilors Efren Herrera, Alexander Gestopa Jr, and Queenie Amann also filed their COCs.

Arturo, in an interview, said he will continue the services initiated by his wife, Paz.

He added his health is not an issue, since 93 percent of Oponganons support Team Deretso.

Arturo served as city mayor from 2007 to 2010. He served as the lone district representative from 2010 until 2013.

Mayor Paz, on the other hand, said she will continue Aileen’s programs focusing on education and giving jobs for the Oponganons.

“We will have more coordination with the city for the projects,” she said.

The couple's nephew, Harry, on the other hand, said that it is up to the Oponganons to choose as to who they wanted to become leaders in the city.

"They have the freedom to choose," he said, adding that there is no law abolishing political dynasty.

He said that the advantage part of having three Radazaz in their slate is that services are delivered effectively.

MANDAUE CITY

In Mandaue City, Mayor Gabriel Luis Quisumbing and Vice Mayor Carlo Pontico Fortuna are seeking re-election under the Hugpong Mandauehanon sa Pagbabago (HMP).

Completing their slate are city councilors Elmer Cabahug, Raul Kevin Cabahug V, and Nilo Seno, and newbies Robby Ben Basiga, Paknaan Barangay Captain Malaquias Soco, former Canduman Barangay Captain Leo Jabas, current Banilad Barangay Councilor Leo Saberon, former Cabangcalan barangay chief Atty. Laiza Gingoyon .

Former city councilors Jose Jefferson Ceniza and Alfonzo Albaño will run again for City Council, while former city councilor Editha Cabahug is the slate’s sole representative for Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

In a statement, the HMP will continue the services for the Mandauehanons and will cater their needs first before them.

“This administration has remained committed to put the city over and above personal and family interests. It has not allowed itself to favor any person or business establishments who have violated laws and ordinances. This administration has shown that it has political will.” reads their statement. —
