In fifty years of frantic research he’d registered more than 1,000 patents and his last words seemed to be spoken in relief – he briefly revived from a coma and said, “It’s very beautiful over there.” His obituary in the New York Times was four and a half pages long, and his friend Henry Ford reputedly kept a bottle containing Edison’s dying breath!
