Aces extend Columbian's woes

-

Alaska shifted into high gear early, sputtered late, before recovering to trounce Columbian Dyip, 104-94, in the 2018 PBA Governors' Cup on Wednesday at the Cuneta Astrodome.

TheAces tied Blackwater at the third spot with a 6-2 win-loss tally while adding to the misery of the Dyip.

Mike Harris registered a double-double outing with 44 points and 27 rebounds in almost 40 minutes of play. Vic Manuel had 14 points, while JVee Casio chipped in 10 markers.

Chris Banchero put up another all-around outing with 10 points, seven rebounds and 11 assists.

Despite the victory, Alaska head coach Alex Compton expressed his disappointment.

"I don't think we played the way were supposed to play," said Compton after the match.

That's because the Dyip kept in step with the Aces late in the game. Behind Akeem Wright and Jackson Corpuz, the team got to as close as eight points.

But the Aces hung tough for the victory, while the Dyip remain in search for answers in a conference where they have lost all nine games.

Wright flirted with a triple double of 19 points, 14 rebounds, and nine assists. Corpuz chipped in the some number of points, while Jerramy King had 14 points.

Reden Celda added 11 points. —
