Barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City has declared Sitios Kitchen and Paradise under a state of calamity after 47 houses were burned down, leaving 200 individuals homeless.

Barangay Captain Junard Chan, in an interview, said they are now conducting a profiling process of the residents who were affected by the Sunday morning fire.

"We provided them with food para nila. We are also profiling the victims. Ang atong barangay nag-atiman gyud sa mga nasunogan," Chan said.

He said profiling is important in order to know who are the fire victims and who should be given financial assistance.

This is also to prevent other people from taking advantage of the situation.

The profiling is in coordination with the City Social Welfare Services of the city government, Chan said.

The financial assistance through CSWS of the city government is around P10,000.

Chan also asked those who are willing to donate clothes and construction materials for the victims to do so, since the victims really need these items because they lost all their clothes during the incident.

"We are asking private individuals to donate kay tapotlawas ra ilahang nadala, and also construction materials para maka-start sila og tukod sa ilahang balay," he said.

The fire victims can still go back to the area, as the barangay and the city government do not have any other relocation site for the victims, according to Chan.

"Makabalik pa sila kay the barangay has no site for relocation," he added.

The Lapu-Lapu City Fire District, however, are currently conducting a follow-up investigation about the matter, Chan said.

This is the second time the two sitios were struck by fire. Last March this year, around 353 houses were burned and 2,000 individuals were displaced, which resulted to the death of two children.
