Vipers, Frontiers stay hot in E-Leagues

The rampaging Teleperfor­mance Vipers and the Kyocera Frontiers walloped separate foes to bolster their chances of gaining the top seeding in their respective divisions in the Tanduay Athletics E-League for Basketball Season 14 at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym over the weekend.

Jayper San Villanueva Brigoli scattered 22 points and pulled down six rebounds as the Vipers slaughtere­d the Wipro Tigers, 80-62, for their eight straight win, while Matthew Grafilo dropped 20 points on top of four rebounds, six assists and four steals to power the Frontiers to a 72-49 whacking of the CTCBPO Panthers.

Rahne Laborte scored 11 and Mon Xavier Dico added six points and 12 for the Vipers, who solidified their hold of the second place in Elite Classic with a 10-1 win-loss record, just a game and half behind the Accenture Sharks with a 13-1 slate.

Aaron Suson finished with 16 points while Earvin Dennis Ferraren had 10 but to no avail as the Tigers slipped to 2-8.

The Frontiers, on the other hand, also stayed at solo second in the EVO League with a 10-1 mark.

Ariel Ramonito Edera backed up Grafilo with 18 points, 14 boards and six dimes.

Rachiebald Gabutan was the lone double-digit scorer with 10 for the Panthers, who dropped to 2-9.

In the other EVO League games, Robert Rebano and Steven Cabanday had 35 points in between them as the Tech Mahindra Tech Mighties posted edged JP Morgan Chase Bankers, 6659, for their eight victory in a dozen games, while Rex Allinson, Quiapo Val and Dennis Noel Poquita connived for 40 points as the SSI/Research Now Warriors shot down the Dyninno Jets, 72-68, to raise their record to 5-6.
