Two people were killed in two separate incidents in Mandaue City and Dalaguete town in Cebu.

A 50-year-old woman was killed and thrown into the sea off Dalaguete last Monday. The fatality was identified as Jocelyn Amarila, a resident of the town's Barangay Banhigan.

Amarila's suspected killer, Junrey Gesalan, surrendered himself to cops at around 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday, a day after the victim's son went to the police station to report about her missing mother.

According to Police Officer 2 Brycel Ricaborda of Dalaguete Police Station, Gesalan admitted killing Amarila.

Gesalan said he struck Amarila with a wood and tied her up with a rope and a stone, then threw her body into the sea.

Gesalan and Amarila were neighbors.

Police are looking into personal grudge as the motive behind Amarila's death.

The body of Amarila is yet to be found as of this writing.

Authorities from Dalaguete Police Station are conducting further investigation into the crime.

"Among gipadayon ang imbestigasyon kay basin naa pay kauban og patay ang suspect," Ricaborda said.

SHOT DEAD

In a separate incident, a 50-year-old man was shot dead by riding-in-tandem gunmen in Barangay Alang-Alang, Mandaue City Tuesday evening.

Eleazar Garciano succumbed to gunshot wounds to his head and body, resulting in his instantaneous death around 9:30 p.m., said Police Officer 2 Ariel Gingco, Centro Police Station 1 investigator.

Based on initial investigation, Garciano had just finished watching a cockfight game at D and C Coliseum and was heading home on board his motorcycle when assailants shot him several times.

Garciano was a resident of Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City.

At least seven empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol were recovered from the crime scene.

The investigation also revealed that Garciano was a friend of Carlos “Bading” Reyes, who was also shot dead by still unidentified gunman inside the said coliseum on November 27.

Police have yet to determine if Garciano was involved in illegal drugs as his friend, Reyes, was an alleged drug pusher who surrendered to authorities during the Oplan Tokhang in 2016.

Cops are still conducting an investigation to determine the motive of the killing.
