18 persons hurt in road accidents

Twelve persons were injured after two vehicles almost collided with each other along the national highway in Barangay Pangdan, City of Naga, at 6 a.m. yesterday.

Investigation revealed that a Calvo bus, driven by Rammel Villaver, was heading to Cebu City when it was almost hit by a Fuso dump truck driven by Leonardo Lasan.

PO1 Clifford Sanchez of Naga City Police Station said that Lasan, who was on his way to Toledo City, tried to overtake a vehicle travelling ahead and encroached on the opposite lane almost hitting the Calvo bus.

Lasan avoided the bus and rammed into the house of Eladio Parame while Villaver moved to the side, causing the bus to flip after its wheels fell in an open concrete canal.

Injured passengers were identified as Carlos Basak, 48; Enrico Jumawan, 57; Mickey Lastima, 37; Paul Paran, 37; Etwin Bowati, 37; Raul Caburnay; Ma. Lourdes Garcia, 40; Benjamine Barbadillo, 59; Angelita Hermosa, 59; Jennifer Dela Torre, 16; and Raul Bertuldo.

Parame, the house owner, was also injured. They were all brought to the hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, four persons were injured in separate vehicular accidents in Nasipit, Talamban, Cebu City, at around 3:20 a.m. yesterday.

PO2 Gringo Nuldez of Talamban Police Station said that a Tiger Taxi and a Toyota Hilux collided in front of a gas station.

Eric Cose, the driver of the taxi, and his passenger, Angelo Cañete, were seriously injured while Matthew Corominas, the driver of the Hilux, and his passenger sustained slight injuries.

In Barangay Cansojong Talisay City, two men were injured while travelling to southern Cebu at around 3:30 a.m. yesterday.

PO1 Eufemio Padillos Jr. of Talisay Police Station traffic department said that Mark Ugalino, the driver of Isuzu elf fell asleep while driving and accidentally hit the side railing and a tree.
