Cebu City’s trea­surer lauded

Cebu City Hall’s trea­surer has been rec­og­nized for col­lect­ing taxes be­yond tar­get.

The Bureau of Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Fi­nance of the De­part­ment of Fi­nance (BLGFDOF) rec­og­nized Veron­ica More­los for her “in­valu­able con­tri­bu­tion to the rev­enue gen­er­a­tion pro­gram of the agency.

The ci­ta­tion on the plaque re­ceived by More­los, signed by BGLF-7 Act­ing Di­rec­tor Mercy San­tos, read that the ef­fi­ciency rat­ing of the Cebu City Trea­surer's Of­fice un­der her helm in 2017 was 104.18 per­cent.

More­los, in an in­ter­view with The FREE­MAN, was thank­ful for the recog­ni­tion, say­ing it gives honor to her and the city gov­ern­ment.

But she also shared the ac­co­lade with her team.

“Of course, madasig ta. Kam­ing em­p­leyado sa trea­surer's of­fice kay narec­og­nize man ang ef­forts. When I re­ceived the award, I told them this is your ef­forts kay kamo man ang tu-a sa field.Ako sila gi-con­grat­u­late," she said.

In 2017, Cebu City col­lected P1 bil­lion in real prop­erty taxes and P1.8 bil­lion in busi­ness taxes.
