Over 500 boot­ers to join Sama-Sama Games

Over 500 chil­dren from all over the coun­try will con­verge to play in a one-day fut­sal tour­na­ment dubbed as "Sama-Sama Games 2018" or­ga­nized by FundLife In­ter­na­tional this Sun­day at the Sis­ters of Mary School- Girl­stown in Tal­isay City.

More than the com­pete­tion, the event aims to em­power the youth through play­ing foot­ball as a plat­form of ad­vo­cacy to pro­vide greater in­clu­siv­ity and op­por­tu­nity as well as hoan­ing their in­di­vid­ual po­ten­tial.

"Our aim is to con­nect and unite peo­ple and the com­mu­nity through foot­ball. We also want to es­tab­lish a sus­tain­able com­mu­nity league here in Cebu, a year-long de­vel­op­ment pro­gram for the youth that would ful­fill their full po­ten­tial just like what we started in Ta­cloban. Foot­ball is made for ev­ery­one, it is not some­thing that should be mo­nop­o­lized, so we re­ally en­cour­age ev­ery­one to do what they can," said FundLife In­ter­na­tional Founder and Manag­ing Di­rec­tor Marko Ka­sic in a press con­fer­ence yes­ter­day at the Marco Polo Plaza Ho­tel.

Gen­er­a­tion Amaz­ing's In­ter­na­tional Project Man­ager Rosa D' Alessan­dro said their pro­gram em­pow­ers young lead­ers across the world to cre­ate a pos­i­tive change in their com­mu­ni­ties us­ing the power of foot­ball.

The Gen­er­a­tion Amaz­ing pro­gram has a to­tal of 99, 408 ben­e­fi­cia­ries in seven coun­tries in­clud­ing Qatar, Jor­dan, Nepal, Pak­istan, In­dia, Le­banon and the Philip­pines as the new­est ad­di­tion.

FundLife also part­nered with the Giuseppe Foot­ball Club led by Rachel Genco. Giuseppe FC is a Ce­bubased lo­cal foot­ball club which shares the same ob­jec­tive for the youth.

Mean­while, Ugar Tasci, the Gen­eral Man­ager of Dy­namic Health Herb Sports Inc. and owner of Ley­lam FC pre­sented his plan of the con­struc­tion of the FIFA-stan­dard Foot­ball Sta­dium and Sports Arena in the South Road Prop­er­ties. He shared that the Phase 1 of the project is ex­pected to be ac­com­plished on the first quar­ter of 2019.

The Gen­er­a­tion Amaz­ing Fes­ti­val- Sama Sama Games 2018 here in Cebu will be par­tic­i­pated by 572 chil­dren mostly from the un­der­priv­i­leged fam­i­lies. A to­tal of 82 teams will be join­ing the event which aside from the lo­cal teams, there are teams from Ba­colod, Bayawan, Pam­panga, Davao and among oth­ers will also take part.

The games fea­ture three main cat­e­gories- the boys, girls and mixed. The boys will have the 13-un­der, 17-un­der, the girls will have the 15-un­der and 18-un­der while the mixed will cater the 7-un­der, 9-un­der and 11 age-group.
