MCPO asks banks: Alert your customers
The Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) has urged bank institutions to put advisories on the ATM areas including the photo of the woman who was tagged as an alleged member of the "Glue Gang."
MCPO Director Julian Entoma said that this is to let the people, especially those withdrawing cash from ATM, aware and be cautious of their surroundings.
"Maski simple lang nga reminders bisan stickers, it can help. Ang modus lang gyud ang maoy bantayan sa katawhan para at least magmatngon sila. Kung mahimo gwardya sila (ang mga tawo mo-transact sa ATM) magpatabang," he said.
Lunalyn De Pedro, 35, a native of Iloilo City, was caught by a bank staff inside a mall putting a super-glue gel on the card reader slot of an automated teller machine (ATM) cash dispenser inside a mall in Mandaue City.
Seized from her were other ATM cards. This prompted the mall bank staff to call personnel of the Subangdaku Police Station 2, who immediately turned over De Pedro to the Investigation and Detection Management Branch of MCPO for further investigation.
Entoma noted earlier that De Pedro was wanted in Region 6, especially in Iloilo.
Entoma, on the other hand, said De Pedro is posting bail, in order to escape from the complaints from other victims.
At least eight complainants recently went to the MCPO, following De Pedro's arrest.
Complaints were already filed against De Pedro, according to Entoma.
"Ang uban ani nga complainants, na consolidate na ang mga complaint sa mga banko," Entoma said.
While De Pedro can post bail, Entoma said those who got victimized by her can still file a complaint.
"Katong mga nabiktima, nakuhaan og kwarta, mayta mo-execute sila og affidavit, mo-appear sa kapolisan (sa MCPO), maski didto sa Iloilo mohatag silag affidavit didto para mafilan gihapon," he said.
This way, Entoma added, police will have person of interest once this kind of modus will be rampant here in Cebu and in Iloilo City.
