Cebuanos shine in National Weightlift­ing C'ships

Cebuano lifters strut their wares well as they harvested medals in the Samahang Weightlift­ing ng Pilipinas' 6-in-1 National Weightlift­ing Championsh­ips yesterday at the SM Seaside City.

John Febuar Ceniza led Team Cebu City's charge as he was hailed as the 'most outstandin­g lifter' in the premier men's open and junior men's divisions.

The 20 year-old Ceniza, who is under the 61-kilograms in the new weight divisions, lifted 113-kilograms in the snatch and 143-kilograms in the clean and jerk for a total of 256-kilograms.

Ceniza's brother Evangelito Dale also won the gold and in the juniors of 55 kgs. division.

John Dexter Tabigue scored a triple golds via the open, secondary boys and junior division 89 kgs. with 267-kgs.total. He was considered one of the most improved lifters.

University of Cebu’s Ramon Padilla got two golds via the collegiate and junior boys’+109-kgs. plus a silver in the open while teammates Romeo Benedict Monisit and Jay Diamante also got a double gold each.

Marjun Agad of the Cebu-Alino Integrated Services took the gold in the secondary boys’ and silver in the junior 55 kgs. class with 214-kgs.total as teammate Jun Dominic Bohol settled with a bronze in the youth 43-kgs.class.

In the distaff side, Elreen Ann Ando of UC showed might with a triple gold via the open, junior and secondary girls’ 64-kgs.after posting 95-kgs.in the snatch, 116-kgs.in the clean and jerk for a total of 211-kgs. Carreta’s Mary Margarette Miparanum with a double bronze behind Ando in all three classes.

Giselle Ann Betua claimed a two golds via the youth and secondary girls’ 55-kgs. and a silver open division with a total lift of 144-kgs.

TCC got the junior men’s division crown with 21 points, just a point advantage over Hungduan while University of the East for settled third.
