Traffic rerouting in Lapu-Lapu

Motorists in Lapu-Lapu City are advised to take alternative routes as roads surrounding the Virgen Dela Regla Church will be closed to vehicle traffic at 1 a.m. on January 19 to accommodate the motorcade of the image of the Santo Niño from Mandaue City.

The Mandaue-Mactan Bridge will also be closed to vehicles.

Motorists from Barangays Looc, Babag, and Cordova town heading to Mandaue City and Cebu City will be made to take the Hoopsdome road, Maximo V. Patalinjug road, and Manuel L. Quezon highway to the Marcelo Fernan Bridge.

Motorists from Barangays Marigondon and Basak will use Maximo V. Patalingjug road and Manuel L. Quezon Highway going to the Marcelo Fernan Bridge.

Personnel from the City Traffic Management System (CTMS) and the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office will monitor the flow of traffic in these areas.

Motorists from Mandaue City and Cebu City heading to Lapu-Lapu City are advised to take the Marcelo Fernan Bridge and the Sewage-Motumbo access road behind the Lapu-Lapu City Hall.

The city will provide temporary loading and unloading areas.

The old PUJ terminal in Lapu-Lapu will be the dropoff area of passengers who want to go to the city's public market, while those coming from Cordova can get off in front of the Looc Elementary School.

Tricycles are allowed to drop passengers off at the Gusa Basketball Court in Sitio Humay-Humay in Barangay Gun-ob.

Tricycles bound for Barangays Babag, Calawisan, and Canjulao can drop passengers off up until the converging areas of P. Rodriguez, Dad Cleland, and Lopez Jaena Streets.

Traffic flow will return normal as soon as the image of the Holy Child will leave for Cebu City. —
