Police seized around P2.1 million worth of suspected shabu from a high-value target drug personality in an anti-drug operation in Barangay Basak Pardo, Cebu City past midnight yesterday.

The operation of Pardo police station resulted in the arrest of Elvie Peter Balano Mandreaza, 31, of Sitio Kauswagan.

According to Chief Inspector Regino Maramog Jr., an undercover cop posed as a buyer and bought a sachet of shabu worth P1,000 from Mandreaza.

When the transaction was consummated, police declared the arrest.

They found in his possession three more packs of suspected shabu inside his sling bag.

The drugs seized weighed 310 grams with an estimated market value of P2.1 million.

Maramag said Mandreaza’s name was revealed by previously arrested drug suspects as their source.

A tactical debriefing is being done to extract more information from Mandreaza and his sources of illegal drugs.

Cebu City Police Office director Senior Superintendent Royina Garma said that even with the heightened alert for the Sinulog revelry, there will be no let-up in the campaign against antiillegal drugs.

“There are teams dedicated to focus on illegal drugs (operations). Those deployed in the Sinulog preparations are from other teams while other teams will conduct regular duty,” Garma said in a phone call.

In Lapu-Lapu City, about P101,728 worth of suspected shabu was seized in separate buy bust operations that led to the arrest of three persons.

Venjo Dungog , 18, and Roel Samson, 38, were arrested in Purok Sambag, Barangay Canjulao, while 26-year-old Jake Naparate was arrested in Barangay Marigondon by the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO).

Superintendent Mark Gifter Sucalit, CIB chief, said Dungog and Samson were caught red-handed after they exchanged illegal drugs with a police decoy around 10:30 p.m., last January 8.

Seized from Dungog and Samson were 16 sachets of suspected shabu reportedly worth P10,064.

His P500 cash believed to be proceeds of the illegal activity was also confiscated, according to Sucalit.

On the other hand, seized from Naparate were 17 sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P91,664.

At least P5,000 cash believed to be proceeds of Naparate's illegal activity was also seized.
