Sinulog on Foot

- (AMM)

To many people, Sinulog means a long walk… on foot. It’s understandable, of course. The central city streets, where the grand parade takes place, are off limits to vehicles. Besides, common sense dictates that there’s just a lot more to see when one is walking.

Hence, the opening The Athlete’s Foot at Ayala Center Cebu is quite perfect timing. It’s the athletic store chain’s “biggest door to date in Southeast Asia!” The Athlete’s Foot CEO Ingmar Kraak observes, “As sneaker culture continues to gain momentum around the world and sportswear becomes all-day everyday wear, The Athlete’s Foot is becoming the premier destination in the Philippines for the trend-conscious kid looking for the best looks.”

Kraak’s statement is most likely to be proven during these days leading to the Sinulog grand parade, now that The Athlete’s Foot has opened at the ground floor, around the rotunda area, of Ayala Center Cebu.

Robert and David Lando opened the first The Athlete’s Foot store in 1971, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Back then, it was the first specialty athletic footwear store in the United States. It later became the world’s first franchisor of athletic footwear, with over 200 domestic stores by 1978. That same year the fledgling American chain went international, opening in Australia. In 2012, the store chain was acquired by INTERSPORT International Corp., based in Switzerland.

Today, The Athlete’s Foot is one of the world leaders in athletic footwear. In the Philippines, the chain currently has 19 specialty stores. As it grows, The Athlete’s Foot continues to empower people everywhere to enhance their very own sport with style.
