-

The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), in partnership with the AFOS Foundation for Entrepreneurial Development Cooperation, continues its effort to solve the skills mismatch in the country and strengthen the industry’s workforce.

In pursuit of its goals, CCCI together with AFOS Foundation for Entrepreneurial Development Corporation conducted “The Basic Entrepreneurship (Sub-Contracting) and Basic Construction Project Management Training to PLUS Students” last December 3-5, 2018 at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

The K to 12 PLUS project of the Chamber and AFOS Foundation, which is now on its second phase, focuses on the project’s PLUS element. The PLUS element is an advanced specialization provided to the students after acquiring the basic qualification.

The K to 12 Plus project aims for the students to become skilled individuals for gainful employment and enable them to acquire the necessary entrepreneurial skills.

Particularly, the construction cluster has already started its advanced skills training for the job profile identified by the industry themselves called ‘Specialty Installer’.

Students are honed and trained effectively as they start their In-Company Training at the partner companies. In this way, students learnt to master the skills needed according to the industry standards.

During the three-day management training, there are 11 PLUS students from the construction cluster who were trained by Rodolfo Menguita, a Construction expert. Students learnt about business trends and ideas: how to adapt construction principles and how to apply the good practices in the industry.

Moreover, the training provided the students with knowledge, schemes and strategies on how to run their own business and build more job opportunities.
