The Lunar New Year Celebration

-

An exquisite and exceptional feast was set by Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa, Cebu as it ushered in the Year of the Earth Pig on February 5. Guests were treated to a revelry of vibrant tradition and masterful culinary delights especially created by Chef Boon Boon Hoe.

The resort’s Chinese restaurant, Tea of Spring, an awardee as one of the Top 20 Best Restaurants in Philippine Tatler’s Best Restaurants Guide 2017, offered Lunar New Year set menus that were available from February 4 to 14, featuring oriental classics. Each set menu came with a plateful of Yee Sang for families to do their Prosperity Toss.

The Lunar New Year celebration at the resort formally began at 10:15 a.m. at the Main Lobby. As tradition, there was an eye-dotting ceremony during the lion and dragon dance to bring in good luck. Firecracker explosions followed, meant to drive evil spirits away; culminating in the Prosperity Toss, a ritual to bring in long life, prosperity and unity for all.

Indeed, abundance and merriment abound at Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa, Cebu during the Lunar New Year.
