Radical in love

-

Leading others is hard. That's why I've always admired leaders who empower others to be the best that they can be. One of those leaders is Bro. Obet Cabrillas, who heads Feast Valle Verde in Pasig City.

One of my cluster heads in our events committee shared with me that during one of Brother Obet's visits to Cebu, he told them, “Don't leave Stephen in the ministry. Help him.” I felt his genuine concern for me. He isn't just my coach in the Radical program, our training ground for leaders in the Light of Jesus Family; he is also my friend. In his last visit to Cebu, I hugged him and said, “Coach, you are Jesus to me.”

Praise be to God, I now lead young men to grow in character and service. So I remind them always: Be radical in love. I told them that their goal is not just for people to say, “He is a really great worship leader” or “He is an amazing speaker.” What's more important is for people to say this of them: “He is such a loving person. I felt Jesus in Him.”After all is said and done, what matters is if a person felt that he or she was loved. If we learn to be radical in love, then we have learned the most important skill we need as leaders.
