Senatorial bets invited to monument unveiling

-

Two senatorial bets and former presidential spokesman Harry Roque are invited to the unveiling of Don Vicente Rama brass monument at the Rama Compound, Barangay Basak San Nicolas, Cebu City on February 23.

Rama told The FREEMAN that he sent an invitation to Nancy Binay,

Lawrence “Bong” Go, and Roque to attend the activity he initiated for his grandfather.

The late Don Vicente Rama was the father of the Cebu City’s Charter Day. He was a member of the House of Representatives when he authored the bill converting the municipality of Cebu to Cebu City.

Rama said he did not hesitate to ask the presence of the three senate bets since they maintain a good relationship with each other.

“Roque is a very good friend of mine. Binay is affiliated with United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) and I am UNA. Then Bong Go helped me with the president,” he said.

However, Go, Binay and Roque have yet to confirm their attendance. The event on Saturday will be started with a mass to be officiated by Archbishop Jose Palma at 7:30 a.m.

“It will be started with a mass, then unveiling of the brass and breakfast. That day will be a family day with my supporters,” Rama said.

Rama said he invited all his party mates such as Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella along with incumbent councilors Jocelyn Pesquera, Joel Garganera, Raymond Alvin Garcia, Eduardo Rama Jr., and Pastor Alcover Jr.

Others are neophyte politicians of the party namely Francis Esparis, Ernest Herrera, Donaldo Hontiveros, Richard Yap, Rey Lauron, Gerard Carillo, Niña Mabatid and others.

Further, Rama said Partido-Barug supporters are also expected to grace the event.

Every year, Rama’s family will be holding an event to honor the exemplary achievements of his grandfather.

Meanwhile, the city government headed by Mayor Tomas Osmeña is also organizing an event to celebrate the 82nd anniversary of Charter Day at Plaza sa Sugbo. -- Odessa O. Leyson/MBG
