Do You Have Peace?

-

In this too demanding world, to have inner peace is a tall order. Here’s the sharing of Bo Sanchez in the book “Didache, Daily Bible Reflection For Catholics,” January – December 2018: “Many years ago, I watched a CNN interview with a billionaire. The host asked, ‘You have lots of money. Do you still worry about money?’

“The billionaire’s answer shocked me. He said, ‘Oh yeah! I worry a lot because all my money can disappear in a snap.’

“As a young guy watching this interview, I suddenly felt pity for him. At that time, I didn’t have much money, yet I knew I was richer than him. Because I had something that he didn’t have. I had the most expensive thing in the world all the money in the world can’t buy. I had peace. I can sleep at night without worrying about money.

“Friend, do you have peace? I urge you – seek the real peace that comes from following the Lord.”

There is someone I know who worried a lot. She was afraid of his son’s future, especially that he lost his job. In fact, she asked me to pray for his son. I told her that we have to trust the Lord who is in control of everything. If we worry too much, that shows we don’t trust the Lord. Worrying is like sitting in a rocking chair that brings you nowhere. Besides, worrying doesn’t solve the problem.

There are quotes about finding peace. Here are some from www.success.com:

• “Love and peace of mind do protect us. They allow us to overcome the problems that life hands us. They teach us to survive… to live now… to have the courage to confront each day.” – Bernie Siegal

• “You’ll never find peace of mind until you listen to your heart.” – George Michael

• “Do not let the behavior of others destroy your inner peace.” – Dalai Lama

• “Nobody can bring you peace but yourself.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

• “Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset.” – Saint Francis de Sales

• “If you cannot find peace within yourself, you will never find it anywhere else.” – Marvin Gaye

The www.1.cbn.com has these reminders:

• “You don’t have to feel anxious over your ability to change your life. You don’t have to fret over planning out your life. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.” – Proverbs 3:5-6, ESV

• “You don’t have to feel the stress of defending yourself or impressing other people. ‘My salvation and my honor depend on God. He is my might rock, my refuge.’ ” – Psalm 62:7, NIV
